BCCI rewards the Indian cricket team with ₹131 crore after winning the T20 World Cup title.
After successfully defending their T20 World Cup title, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has revealed a massive cash reward of ₹131 crore for the Indian squad. The prize money will be distributed among the players, coaching staff, and selection committee to celebrate their outstanding achievement in the tournament.
In an official statement, the board praised the entire team for their remarkable performance and dedication.
“The Board congratulates the players, support staff, and selectors on this historic victory and wishes them continued success in the future,” the BCCI said.
Dominant Final Against New Zealand
India sealed the championship with a dominant 96-run victory over New Zealand in Ahmedabad. Batting first, India posted an impressive 255/5, thanks to brilliant half-centuries from the top order.
- Abhishek Sharma
- Sanju Samson
- Ishan Kishan
All three batters played aggressive innings that helped India reach a huge total.
During the chase, Jasprit Bumrah delivered a match-winning bowling spell. The star pacer took 4 wickets for just 15 runs in four overs, completely breaking New Zealand’s batting lineup and ensuring a comfortable victory for India.
Historic Record: India’s Third T20 World Cup Title
With this victory, India created history by winning the T20 World Cup for the third time, more than any other team.
Previously:
- West Indies won the tournament twice (2012, 2016)
- England also lifted the trophy twice (2010, 2022)
India has now become the first team in history to win back-to-back men’s T20 World Cups. Earlier defending champions had struggled to even reach the final, making India’s achievement even more remarkable.
Another historic milestone is that India became the first team to win the T20 World Cup on home soil.
India’s Golden Era in World Cricket
The Indian men’s team is currently dominating international cricket. Along with the T20 World Cup, India also holds the Champions Trophy title.
If the team manages to win the upcoming ODI World Cup next year, India could complete an incredible trio of major ICC trophies.
This era of success highlights the depth, talent, and consistency of the Indian cricket team on the global stage.
